QUALIFICATION DESCRIPTION

Set yourself on the path to a creative career in the Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander arts industry. The certificate II in Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander Cultural Arts helps you develop the practical skills required to work as a visual arts and crafts professional as well as providing pathways into higher qualifications.

The courses are designed to help you develop a range of art and craft skills as well as to develop your understanding of Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander identity and learn to apply this knowledge to an arts context.

 

ENTRY REQUIREMENTS

Enrolled Djarragun College students may apply to enrol in a VET course from Year 10 onwards.

 

DURATION AND LOCATION

This Certificate II course is delivered over 2 years on site at Djarragun College, in our purpose built arts gallery and studio.

 

DELIVERY MODES

The course will be delivered in the classroom, face-to- face, using a range of practical and theoretical teaching and assessment methods.

 

FEES

There is no additional fee for enrolling in a VET course, there are two different College fee levels applicable for enrolling at the College. Any VET courses are covered within this fee.

 

SUPPORT SERVICES AVAILABLE

The College has invested heavily in support services to support student learning. We have a substantial support staff made up of Teaching Assistants, Learning Enhancement teachers and Youth Support Officers.

We also partner with Ngak Min Health to access services that are typically not available in schools.

 

RTO OBLIGATION

Djarragun College guarantees that the student will be provided with every opportunity to complete the qualification. We do not guarantee employment upon completion of this qualification.

Students who are deemed competent in all units of competency will be awarded a Qualification, a Record of Results and full QCE points.

Students who achieve at least one unit of competency (but not the full qualification) will receive a Statement of Attainment and may receive some QCE points.

Successful completion of this course will prepare you for further study in this area.

You will be able to enter the industry as a visual arts and crafts professional, work with an Indigenous Art Centre or organisation as a Curators Assistant, a Gallery Assistant or Retail Assistant.

QUALIFICATION DESCRIPTION

If you are interested in learning how to play a basic musical instrument, receive and introduction to sound engineering and learn how to make your own music this is the course for you.

This qualification reflects the role of individuals who perform a range of mainly routine tasks in the music industry.

You will have the opportunity to perform live music acts, visit local music venues and be involved with your supervisor in the setting up and the pulling down of stage equipment of a music performance.

QUALIFICATION DESCRIPTION

ACPA’s 10919 NAT Certificate II in Performing Arts course is designed for students ready to take their first step into the performing arts industry, improve their pathways into tertiary education, or prepare for future employment.

Delivered through nine compulsory core units of music, dance and acting, this foundation course teaches:

  • Listening, music theory and vocal / instrumental skills
  • Health and fitness, physical conditioning, nutrition, and health and safety stage presence, vocal development, and common theatre conventions, public speaking and presentation skills
