Welcome to Djarragun College
Djarragun College shares the Cape York Partnership vision for children to achieve their full potential, talent and creativity and have the confidence and capacity for hard work so they can orbit between two worlds and enjoy the best of both.
We aim to develop a holistic knowledge about each of our student’s academic ability and physical health and wellbeing to be able to fully support each of them onto a successful future life pathway.
We recognise the traditional owners of Cape York and the Torres Strait Islands and pay our respects to our elders, past and present.
Our Mission
To develop proud, strong, educated Indigenous men and women, who walk confidently in two worlds, to be leaders, and to be role models for their families and communities.
Our Vision
To be the school of choice for students, parents and communities in Cape York and the Torres Strait Islands.

Cairns Libraries are bringing you a very full schedule of activities with animal interactions and creature-themed fun: ‘Creature Creations.’
Program highlights include:
Summer Reads Launch @ City Library 10:30 am, 15 Dec: Kick off the school holidays with a wild adventure. Meet the Roaming Wild animals, get your face painted and come dressed as your favourite animal.
Summer Stories Saturdays @ City Library 10am, every Saturday in December and January: We are buzzing with stories from some of your favourite local authors every Saturday. Even better, all of our authors are launching new books! Get your copies signed or borrow from the library!
Gone Buggo @ Earlville Library 10:30am, 19 Jan: Kids will get up close and hands-on with activities inspired by a wildlife photographer who uses Lego and photography to learn about bugs.
Movie Day @ Stratford Library, 23 Jan all day: Kids will love seeing a group of “not-so-good” heroes as they try to pull off daring heists and save the day in this hilarious sequel. Popcorn and good vibes are included.
All events are FREE and do not require bookings.
Enter Competitions: Borrow any item from the Junior or Youth collection to go into the draw to win 1 of 14 gift-cards, and enter our Scavenger Hunts at City Library to win gift cards and books by local authors Rebecca Ralfe and Lachlann Carter.
Get crafty and make animal masks, create never-before-seen animals and add your favourite animal to the community habitat. You can try out our 3D pens and create Lego or Augmented Reality creatures.
All our events and programs have strong links to books, reading and learning - we want to help teachers and parents to keep kids reading over the summer! ... See MoreSee Less
