QUALIFICATION DESCRIPTION
Do you enjoy getting into the great outdoors? Do you like snorkelling, bushwalking or kayaking? Do you want to try some new fun activities? Certificate II in Outdoor Recreation includes 11 units of study. They centre around the skills,
knowledge and practical elements essential to snorkelling, bushwalking, kayaking and other recreational activities. Upon completing the Certificate, you will be competent to assist leaders in facilitating these recreational experiences.
What next? When you complete this course, you may wish to assist leaders in indoor or outdoor environments, adventure learning centres, tourism operators (including Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander led organisations) or camps. Or you may decide to conduct further training or study so that you can be a leader in the Recreation industry.
ENTRY REQUIREMENTS
Enrolled Djarragun College students may apply to enrol in a VET course from Year 10 onwards.
DURATION AND LOCATION
This Certificate II course is delivered over 2 years on site at Djarragun College.
DELIVERY MODES
The course will be delivered in the classroom, face-to- face, using a range of practical and theoretical teaching and assessment methods.
FEES
There is no additional fee for enrolling in a VET course, there are two different College fee levels applicable for enrolling at the College. Any VET courses are covered within this fee.
SUPPORT SERVICES AVAILABLE
The College has invested heavily in support services to support student learning. We have a substantial support staff made up of Teaching Assistants, Learning Enhancement teachers and Youth Support Officers.
We also partner with Ngak Min Health to access services that are typically not available in schools.

CERTIFICATE III IN SPORT COACHING

QUALIFICATION DESCRIPTION
This practical-based qualification reflects the role of individuals who apply the skills and knowledge to coach participants up to an intermediate level in a specific sport.
The certification aims to establish a pathway for employment in local community coaching positions, whether paid or voluntary, within community-based sports clubs and organisations within the Australian sports sector. Those holding this certification possess a diverse set of well-honed skills, requiring discretion and judgment.
The program is designed to achieve several objectives:
- Facilitate social interaction, enhance self-esteem, foster leadership skills, and encourage community engagement through involvement in NRL and AFL.
- Develop skill sets aligned with industry standards, workplace demands, and sporting accreditations.
- Foster partnerships among football organisations, sports bodies, local enterprises, communities, and institutions.
- Connect students with opportunities through local football organisations.

CERTIFICATE III IN FITNESS

QUALIFICATION DESCRIPTION
This qualification reflects the responsibilities of group and gym fitness instructors. Students are tasked with planning and executing group exercise sessions and crafting gym-based programs for individuals, with limited personalised instruction and ongoing client monitoring.
When conducting group sessions or interacting with clients, students will exercise discretion and judgment to address routine issues within the confines of clearly outlined organisational policies and procedures. Students will actively engage in delivering a variety of fitness programs and services to clients within their school community.
Upon completion, graduates will demonstrate competence in various essential skills, including conducting client health assessments, designing and implementing fitness programs, and leading group fitness sessions both indoors and outdoors, catering to diverse clients, including older adults. Additionally, this program encompasses the acquisition of a First Aid qualification and CPR certificate.
